Senior Outings

Each month, we offer outings and day trips to places all throughout Middle Tennessee (and possibly beyond!). Depending on the trip, transportation is available to/from two locations: Enrichment Center in Franklin and Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill. Please visit the Senior Policies page for more registration information.

Let's do lunch! We might try something new, hit some favorites, or find something off the beaten path. Meet in the lobby of your desired location at either 10:00 am (Longview) or 11:00 am (Enrichment Center). Return times will vary. The cost of a lunch outing is $3 for transportation. Lunch will always be Dutch Treat.

Meeting the 3rd Tuesday of each month, we'll spend the morning bowling at Franklin Family Entertainment Center. Afterwards, we'll enjoy lunch at various local favorites. The cost of Brunch & Bowl is $3 for transportation; Bowling and lunch are Dutch treat. Return times will vary.

"Take a hike" with us as we visit some local walking places. We will hit some local favorites and find some new places to walk and hike. Participants must be able to walk independently on different types of terrain. Some places we go may have easy and more difficult trails for seniors to choose from or we will stay together as a group. You will need to provide your own snacks and water for these outings. This outing is weather dependent and if we need to cancel the outing we will notify everyone as soon as possible. Meet in the lobby of the Williamson County Enrichment Center at 9am. Return times will vary. The cost of the hiking outing is $3 for transportation. Registration is required.

At the Historic Railpark and Train Museum, we will be able to see, touch, hear and explore real railcars from as early as 1832. This historic national landmark holds important artifacts of our regions heritage. It will be a two part tour, half being in the museum, then we will get to climb aboard the remarkable railcars themselves. We will conclude our trip with lunch at Mariah's a favorite spot of Bowling Green locals. Lunch will be Dutch treat.

We are heading to the Bluegrass State for what they are known for, horses and racing! Listen to the horse's hooves hit the ground as they run the turf track of Kentucky Downs. We will get to enjoy the view from the Finish Line Tent, which is right by the finish line and paddocks. Our seats include a racing program, buffet lunch, and non-alcoholic beverages. The races will start at 1:30pm and we will watch as many as we can before we have to head back home.

Join us for a trip to the beautiful Schermerhorn for the Coffee & Classic series. Enjoy the sounds of "Hayden's London Symphony." The Nashville Symphony orchestra inspires, entertains, and educates through excellence in musical performances. One of the Nashville's largest and longest running non-profit performing arts organizations, and has been a part of Music City since 1946. We will stop at the Cheesecake Factory for lunch after the show. Lunch is Dutch treat.

Welcome to Nashville's Original Barn and most unique dining and theatre in the round experience. Join us for an afternoon of great food and entertainment! Based on the beloved holiday film, this comedy follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity. Please note: This trip is based out of the Enrichment Center only; there is no Longview pick up for this trip.

Dominican Saint Cecilia Motherhouse
Built in 1892, sitting on 32 acres in downtown Nashville, an oasis on the north side of a busy city, it provides reminders of history in a peaceful setting. Home to the Dominican order of Sisters of the St Cecilia Congregation, these sisters administer and teach at Catholic schools in Nashville. They serve the community and this structure serves as their home and place of worship. We will conclude our tour with Vespers (songs of evening prayer by the sisters). Before our tour, we will have time to spend at the Nashville Farmer's Market for a late lunch and shopping (Lunch and shopping are Dutch treat).

Sewanee's All Saints Chapel
The University of the South-Sewanee is located on 10,000 acres atop Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau. In the center point of campus is the All Saints Chapel. To call it a chapel might be misleading, it is a large place of worship. It is a wonderful piece of architecture in rural TN. Before our tour, we will try a local favorite for lunch, Blue Chair Cafe (lunch is Dutch treat).

The Ryman (Mother Church)
Known as the Mother Church of country music, it is one of American music's most treasured landmarks. The Union Gospel Tabernacle opened to the Nashville community in 1892 under the direction of Sam Jones and Thomas Ryman. In 1904 after Capt. Ryman's death, the congregation renamed the church to Ryman Auditorium. In 1943 it became the home of the Grand Ol' Opry! After our tour, we will have lunch at Capitol Grill (lunch is Dutch treat). The grill was built in 1910 and offers historical charm and a fresh take on classic Southern cuisine.

Dive Burger and Brew Tour
Dive: A hole in the wall, well-worn and unglamorous...that usually has the most amazing food! Join us as we tour some local craft breweries and try to find the BEST burgers around.

Asgard Brewing Company & Dub's Burgers
Asgard Brew brings the cool, smooth beers of the Icelandic region to Middle Tennessee. Located in Columbia, TN, it's a destination brewery that focuses on quality craft beer with natural and locally sourced ingredients. Spending years accumulating only the best brewing traditions and recipes, it is a truly unique brewery experience...and rumor has it that it is haunted! Dub's Burgers has been grilling up burgers for more than 50 years in North Alabama. After lunch, we'll swing by another local favorite for ice cream. Kreme Delite has been serving the best cones, dips and splits since 1951.

Yazoo Brewing Company & Brown's Diner
Yazoo Brewery started in 1993 with a homebrew kit, but it wasn't until 2003 that it actually became a business. Yazoo beer can now be found in most of Tennessee and Mississippi feature Pale Ale, Dos Perros, Stout, Rye, Hefeweizen and Gerst beers. Brown's Diner was founded in 1927, and holds the city's oldest beer license...and has been in continuous operation ever since! Brown's has proudly served Nashville's BEST cheeseburger for over 85 years.

Jackalope Brewing Company & Rotier's
Jackalope Brewery started its dream in 2009, opening its doors to the public in 2011, and by 2013 was the first Nashville craft brew to can its own beer. Distributing throughout the Middle TN, Chattanooga, and Memphis, they strive to maintain the commitment to quality beer, community, and fun! Rotier's, established in 1945, has been a Nashville landmark for many years. The cheeseburger on French bread is their claim to fame, winning local and national awards.
